How it works

From an empty shop to a full bake day

Five steps, and only the first one happens once. The rest is your week, repeating.

Step 01

Set up your shop

Pick your shop name and address — you get your own storefront at flourdesk.com/shop/your-bakery. Add your products with prices, photos and allergen notes.

Then make it look like yours: choose two brand colors, a surface and a font pairing, and upload a logo and a header photo. Every color combination is checked for contrast as you pick, so your prices and product names stay readable whatever palette you choose.

Step 02

Open a drop

A drop is one bake day. Set the date, the pickup window, and what you're making — with a cap on each item, because you know how many loaves fit in your oven and how many hours are in your morning.

Publish it and your storefront shows the drop, the lineup and what's still available. Keep it as a draft until you're ready.

Step 03

Customers pre-order

Your customers browse the drop and reserve what they want. The counts come down as orders come in, and an item marks itself sold out when it hits your cap. Nobody can order the last six loaves twice.

Each order gets a reference. Customers don't need an account — the reference is how they find their order again.

Step 04

You get paid

Pre-orders are prepay. Your customer gets your payment instructions at checkout and pays you directly — FlourDesk never holds the money and never takes a percentage.

A reservation holds its stock for 12 hours. If it isn't paid by then it releases automatically and the stock goes back on sale, so an abandoned order doesn't quietly cost you a sale.

Step 05

Bake and hand over

On bake day you have one list: every item across every order, totalled. You bake to a number that's already sold.

During the pickup window you work down the orders and mark each one collected as it goes out the door, so you always know who's been and who's still coming.

Where the money goes

Your customers pay you, not us

FlourDesk is software you rent, not a marketplace that handles your takings. Nothing your customers pay ever passes through us.

You pick the payment options

You add the ones you already use, and those are exactly what your customer sees at checkout: Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Card, Square or Cash at pickup, plus a QR code if you upload one. The money goes straight from them to you.

You confirm what arrived

Because we never see the payment, we never claim one happened. Your customer can tell you they've sent it, and it stays marked that way until you check your own account and confirm it. Anywhere an order says paid, it says you confirmed it.

Unpaid orders free themselves up

A pre-order holds its stock for 12 hours. If it isn't paid by then, it releases on its own and the items go back on sale for someone else. You don't chase anybody, and an order somebody abandoned doesn't quietly cost you a sale.

No cut, no payout wait

There's no percentage, no payout schedule, and no account of ours holding your takings until a transfer clears. What your customer sends you is yours the moment they send it. Your payment provider may charge its own fee; that's between you and them.

Your week, after setup

Step one happens once

Setting up your shop happens in one sitting. After that a week is: open the drop, watch it fill, bake, hand over. Most bakers open next week's drop while this week's is still being collected.

Common questions

A few things bakers ask first

Can I run more than one drop a week?

Yes. A drop is just a dated bake day with a pickup window — run one a week, two, or one a fortnight. Each has its own lineup and caps.

What if I need to cancel a bake day?

You can cancel a drop and its orders from your dashboard. Because you hold the payment relationship directly, refunds are yours to make on the method your customer paid with.

Do my customers need an account?

No. They order with a name and an email and get an order reference. The fewer steps between wanting a loaf and reserving one, the more orders you take.

Ready when you are

$10 a month. Your customers pay you directly. Cancel whenever.
